It's been scientifically proven that being part of a group enhances well-being, makes you live longer and therefore increases your chances of winning the Euromillions Rollover. It's a no brainer girls... COME AND JOIN US!
This new branch of the WI was started to reflect the diverse and idiosyncratic nature of St. Leonards and Hastings, and we decided to name ourselves the Wonky W.I. Wonky is a word that seems benignly off-centre, and suggests acceptance and inclusion with humour, which is a good starting point for any organisation and especially ours.
Our aim for the W.W.I. is to adopt a contemporary approach to traditional women’s groups; ours will be non-competitive and non-judgmental, a safe space for debate and discussion, education, skill-sharing and fun, and will be affiliated to an established national women’s organisation that has no party political or religious agenda but offers the collective strength of 208,000 members.
The mission of the National Federation of Women’s Institutes is to provide women with educational opportunities and the chance to build new skills, to take part in a wide variety of activities and to campaign on issues that matter to them and their communities.
Many WI campaigns have tackled issues that affect us right here in St. Leonards & Hastings and we can have a more effective voice in our community by speaking together with the backing of the national federation. We will be organising a programme of guest speakers, entertainment and activities to suit all interests.
If you would like to join us, we meet on the first Tuesday of every month, 7.30pm-9.30pm at the Royal Victoria Hotel.
